Right. Hafla. I'm sure many of you think I am making this word up. "Halfla" is a Middle Eastern word (I don't know exactly what language or if it is even language specific) that simply means "party". For belly dancers, it has become synonymous with organized performances. But not a regular staged thing, like you would go to a theater to see a show. It is a casual informal event for different troops and dancers to showcase their work. Kind of like a recital. And this hafla is gonna be huge!
I am not dancing at this particular one. I am, you guessed it, catering! Catering in a loose sense of the word. I'm not getting paid for it or anything. Besides, it's for charity. What kind of prick would you have to be to asked to paid by your friends for a benefit function?! My dad offered to pay for all the food because it is charity (and he'll probably write it off or something....) I was really resourceful in my planning and shopping, though. I am making a giant spread for 50+ people and guess how much it cost? Less than $120. I know, I am good. A pound of goat cheese was my only real splurge. The menu is fantastic, if I do say so myself. And lucky for you I am going to share everything here! I know holiday parties are coming up and sometimes it is hard to find easy to make, easy to transport, cheap, snack ideas to feed a bunch of people.

Roasted Red Pepper Dip
The menu sounds amazing - and it really seems like you've got a lot on your plate (I swear that pun was unintentional). It's also really cool that you'll be performing as well!
